Finke Desert Race

The largest fundraiser and volunteer event for the calendar year is the FINKE DESERT RACE, where over 200 volunteer hour go into maning the gates during Friday night’s scrutineering and Sat, Sun and Mon start/finish, as well as the south road for gold coin donations, programmes and enviro packs.

As with the past seven years the FINKE was another outstanding success for the Alice Springs District, with over 1,000 patrons passing through the gates on any one day, and many friends renewed and comments made on GGASP contribution and action in the community.

During the weekend parents and Girl Guides ran a stall, fundraising for the Girl Guide Jamboree in Melbourne in 2010.

The positive feedback we receive on the day and during the year from people who see Guides presenting a can do attitude toward fundraising and our community, supports our Girls during their events throughout the year.

Thanks to the Finke Desert Race Committee for choosing to support our District for another year, providing funds toward our Mobility Access and ongoing improvements to the Guide Hall.

Many many thanks to those who volunteered their time at the gates and other activities supporting this event.
